Achates
Legacy Rescue Foundation (ALRF), Inc. is a Registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated
to building animal friendly communities in Mexico and Puerto Rico.
~ The specific purpose of Achates Legacy Rescue Foundation consists of rescuing animals from suffering, cruelty, abandonment, and neglect, and providing them with necessary medical treatment.
~ ALRF does not have a shelter proper, but does work with veterinarians in targeted areas we're working in that are practiced in rescue medicine.
~ ALRF is committed to help where help is needed. Stephen McGarva (ALRF founder) assisted Traer Scott in capturing photos for her fine arts photography book "Street Dogs.". A portion of the sale of this book goes towards animal rescue.
~ ALRF Founder, Steve McGarva pioneered the huge rescue effort at "Dead Dog Beach." starting in October 2005. (Please view our Media page)
~ ALRF currently works with several rescue groups in Canada and the USA to help facilitate the rescue and placement of as many animals as possible in new loving homes.
~ ALRF would like to see a more humane Mexico and Puerto Rico thru education in the school systems as well as thru working with the Governments in these countries and believes in developing long term sustainable solutions to the problems that exist. We will continue to work toward that goal.
~ ALRF is not limited in its scope on how it will work toward that goal either. We will continue to be involved in meeting with government officials. We will continue to be involved and host free spay/neuter campaigns and other educational events. We plan to expand our humane education to ensure that more developing countries have a deeper commitment toward animal welfare issues.
